The actual layout & composition tools are much more modern & less restrictive than the old Photos book templates, & books feel quicker to produce becuase of this. The app allows you to reach straight into the Photos app to select the photos you want from your custom folders & this updates dynamically if you change something in Photos. However don’t despair - the ifolor Designer seems superior in every other way. Like everyone I’m disappointed that Apple have discontinued their photo print products - printing straight from the Photos app was very convenient & it was great that your data was all in 1 place. Thanks a lot for your review, it helps us optimize the Designer.īetter than the Apple print products ever were. These two features alone overcome the biggest frustrations of the Photos plug-in. However: the App is completely different! For a start, it has a good instruction book when you launch it, and it also allows you to choose your proposed product before loading the photos pricing included. If you slect more than the default number of pages for a booklet (and the large number of pages available was what attracted me in the first place), then it doesn’t repopulate the booklet to use the extra pages. It re-sizes and re-orders photos in a seemingly random way, yet only offers the ability to zoom in further on already-cropped photos, rather than zoom out so you can at least get the whole photo in. There are no effective instructions and, even for a pretty computer-literate user, the plug-in is not intuitive. However, when I wanted to create some booklets for family members, I was sent off on a trail of frustration that just got worse and worse.

You’ll then be ready to continue designing and completing your one-of-a-kind photo book.Don’t use the Photos plug-in, use the separate App.Īt first glance the plug-in seems great, with plenty of print product offerings. If you don’t see your photo book, simply click on “File” and “Open” in the upper left-hand corner and go to the folder containing your photo book. Then start up the ifolor Designer and you’ll find your photo book directly from the start screen. If the other computer to which you’re transferring the photo book(s) also has the ifolor Designer installed, you’ll find the folders described above in the same place and you can transfer the data to this location. In order to transfer a certain photo book to another PC, simply copy the corresponding folder to a date storage medium, such as a USB stick. Otherwise, the folder will have been automatically named using the photo book’s date of creation. If you named your photo book in the ifolor Designer, the file will have the same name. Here you’ll find a folder for each of your photo books that will contain all their data, including their layouts, photos, and texts. If you’ve already used the ifolor Designer to design and save your photo book, a folder was automatically created on your computer where you can find them:Ĭ:\Users\. Thus, it’s not a problem to transfer photo book files, for instance, from a computer using ifolor Designer 3.15 to one running 4.00. Tip: The respective ifolor Designer version used on each computer doesn’t influence the transfer of your photo books.
